The Okuma Helios Spinning Reels are 25% lighter and 50% stronger than standard graphite framed reels. The Helios utilizes C-40X long strand carbon fiber construction. With long strand carbon fiber, less powder is needed for filler resulting in a stronger and lighter body. Both the body and rotor feature this stronger and lighter construction. The side-plates, drag knob and handle arm feature Okuma's 1K carbon fiber inserts resulting in unmatched strength with a minimum weight.

On the interior is the Helios Precision Elliptical Gear System which is machine cut from aluminum. The aluminum gearing is lighter and harder than traditional brass gears. The aluminum gears are also far more corrosion resistant than brass. The pinion gear is constructed of brass for liquid smooth operation. The Helios features Carbonite drag washers for years of smooth fish stopping power.
